Messer and CVC finalize acquisition of Linde and Praxair assets

Messer Group and CVC Capital Partners Fund VII have announced the completion of the acquisition of certain Linde's assets in North and South America. Messer Americas offers the same products, services and people that customers know and trust. The acquisition involves Messer Industries, with about 5,400 employees in the US, Canada, Brazil, Chile and Colombia. This corresponds to sales of approximately 1.6 billion euros ($ 1.8 billion) and an EBITDA of about 359 million euros in 2018.

The assets assumed consist of a total of 44 air separation units, 21 CO2 plants, six hydrogen plants, a helium source. There are 12 helium filling plants, a large gas cylinder business in Canada and an extensive home care operation in Colombia. The companies that make up the region of the “Americas” are Messer Gases Ltda. (Brazil), Messer Chile Gases Ltda. (Chile), Messer Canada, Inc. (Canada), Messer Colombia S.A. (Colombia) and Messer Industries USA, Inc. (USA).

All Messer Group and Messer Industries companies must operate in the market under the brand name “Messer - Gases for Life”. The goal is to reinstate to Messer Group the business activities conducted by Messer Industries in Western Europe and the Americas in 2022.

Global venture

Together with the Messer Group, the company represents a global venture of over $ 3 billion that includes a presence in the Americas, Europe and Asia. The operation covered business in the United States, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Canada. The ownership division in the operation is 58% of the Messer Group and 42% of CVC.
